Best Buy is currently testing their disc to digital program called CinemaNow. The service will allow users to convert DVDs into digital movies from the comfort of their home. Videos are then added to the user UltraViolet account and can be stored online.
Best Buy says users can convert DVDs to SD or HD UltraViolet copies at the moment it’s unclear if Blu-ray discs are supported. CinemaNow service will cost between $1.99 and $2.99 for SD copies and $4.99 or $5.99 for HD copies. In order to convert the DVD the studio of the movie or show has to support the format. Rumors say that Sony, Universal, Warner and Lionsgate are all on board. CinemaNow is only available in the USA and Canada.
