EVGA launched its latest motherboard, the X79 Dark. It was designed for open-air benches, the X79 Dark requires a case that can house E-ATX motherboards measuring 304.8×263.5mm (LxW). It draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX input, two 8pin EPS inputs and a 6-pin PCIe input, to stabilize power for add-on cards. In addition to onboard controls, EVBot support, consolidated voltage measurement points, EVGA deployed a brand new UEFI setup program interface, which debuted with some of its premium Z87-based motherboards.
The X79 features a 12 layer PCB. To supply power to CPU it uses 12+2 phase VRM, a 4 phase VRM to provide power to memory, and power-gating to individual PCI-Express slots. It also includes, PCI-Express 3.0×16 slots, 2 are electrical x16 capable and five electrical x8-capable depending on how slots are occupied. For storage it packs six SATA 6 Gb/s internal ports ,2 belong to X79 PCH, 4 from intermediary controllers, four SATA 3 Gb/s ports from PCH and two eSATA 3 Gb/s. For connectivity its includes 8-channel HD audio, 2 Gigabyte Ethernet interfaces six USB 3.0 ports 4 on the rear panel and two on the header. It also includes Bluetooth and numerous USB 2.0/1.1 ports. The EVGA X79 Dark retails for$399.99.
