For a while Office Mobile has been a rumor but Microsoft has remained quiet about its plans. The Verge is reporting that it has learned through sources close to Microsoft’s plans to release Office Mobile for Android and iOS in early 2013.
Office free apps will allow Android and iOS users to view Microsoft Office documents Word, Excel and Powerpoint but a subscription to Office 365 will be necessary to edit and annotate. Like the version of Office for Windows Phone, these apps will allow for basic editing and syncing with SkyDrive; a Microsoft account will be require.
