Mushkin Ventura 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Today, we will be taking a look at Mushkin’s Ventura 16 GB USB. The Ventura is a lightweight, snap cap top USB 3.0 flash drive offering high transfer speeds. The Ventura is also available in 8GB and 32GB capacities.

Design

     

 

The Ventura drive features an all-aluminum housing, with a black satin finish and clear plastic on top of cap and key ring.  The front of the drive has the Mushkin logo, and the back side has f the model name and capacity. The Ventura has a red LED indicator light on the back of the drive that flashes when the drive is being used.  The drive measures 56.7 by 19.8 by 6.8mm  (HWD).  The Ventura is small enough to fit in your pocket.

 

Performance

Test System

 The test rig was a AMD Phenom II X6 1100T workstation kitted out with a 8GB drive and140 of RAM. The system was designed to be overclocked to 4GHZ.

CrystalDiskMark Speed Test

The Ventura scored 67/25MB/s in sequential read/write tests. The highest are of performance for the Ventura was the 4k read score of 12.0 MB/s and write of 0.02 MB/s.

 

ATTO Disk Benchmark

 

The ATTO results for the Ventura are roughly in line with other CrystalDiskMark scores and at 67/24 MB/s the speeds were higher than Mushkin’s claimed read/write speeds of 50/20 MB/s.

 AS SSD

The AS SSD results showed that the Ventura would take 62.23 seconds to create a copy of a large 1GB file. The Ventura performed quite well in this test.

Conclusion

Overall, during our use and testing of the Mushkin Ventura 16 GB USB 3.0 flash drive was great. I found myself frequently using the Ventura USB drive to transfer larger files, which is what makes the drive stand out. The design is nothing impressive but is slim and light. Ultimately, the Mushkin Ventura proved to be a well-rounded and high-performance 16 GB flash drive. For around $25.99, the Ventura is a great for professional use or personal use.
