The new USB Type-C cable, whose specifications will be finalized in July of this year, will be smaller than current USBs and, thankfully, symmetrical.
The new cable aims to replace both standard USB and Micro USB. It will still support USB 3.0, and adapters will be produced so existing USB cables can continue to be used.
