Nvidia Project Shield

 

Nvidia started CES by announcing an all-new handheld console, Project Shield. Project Shield is powered by the Tegra 4 processor. The controller sports a 5-inch, 720p Retinal multi-touch screen with 294ppi pixel density, HDMI, USB, micro-SD, and audio jack. Nvidia says the Shield runs Android, has a 33Wh battery that life of 5 to 10 hours of play time or 24 hours of HD video.

The Shield looks like similar to an Xbox 360 controller with a flip-up screen attached. The controller has dual control sticks, a D-pad, and multiple action buttons. Both the game controller controls and the touchscreen can be used to navigate the Android UI. The Shield combines the gaming experience with the mobile experience into one.  Nvidia Project Shield, will be available to the US and Canada in the second quarter of this year.
