Project Ara is one step closer to becoming reality. The ambitious modular phone project, from Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group, was a project that the company kept after Lenovo acquired Motorola Mobility.
The idea behind the project is a highly customizable mobile device, bringing the customer exactly what they want in their device and ideally reducing electronic waste in an age where phones become outdated almost overnight.
First seen with Phonebloks, the company has since paired with then Motorola and Google.
Google has released a video covering the group that is currently developing the project, giving small peeks into the process and what has been achieved so far.
The first Ara developer conference will be held on April 15th.
