TSA bans all liquids on flights to Russia

Anyone who has flown in the last 8 years has probably had to, begrudgingly, throw out a bottle of their favorite shampoo or cologne packed in their carry-on because it was just a little too big. TSA’s rules regarding liquid container size were implemented in 2006, and now, with the Olympics in Sochi, Russia, the rules have changed again. Now, no liquids are permitted at all in carry-on baggage on flights between the United States and Russia.
The original rules were put in place in response to terrorist plots targeting airlines. These addressed, specifically, the amounts of liquids that could be used to create explosives after passing through security. Though there is, at this point, no specific threat, the Department of Homeland Security has taken precautions, warning that there is a possibility of individuals trying to use toothpaste tubes with explosives. The Russian Government is ensuring increased security for the safety of the athletes and others who are involved with the games.
