Curiosity gives us it’s view of home

It may be a small comfort to those planning their one-way trip to Mars to know that Earth and our moon are visible from the foreign planet. The Curiosity rover has sent home the view of Earth over the Mars skyline.

While they do just look like stars in the sky, our home planet and moon are the brightest lights in the sky seen from Mars. With 99 million miles separating Mars from Earth, the lights look like just specks in the sky, serving as a reminder of how far that distance is. Though those who take the one-way trip won’t home back to live on Earth, they will be able to get glimpses of their home planet over the Martian horizon.
