Philips makes grocery shopping smarter
Adding more smart devices to everyday tasks, Philips wants to make light of your grocery shopping. With smart lighting and a smart phone, Philips’ new technology would make searching the supermarket an easily mapped task.
Using a beacon in the smart bulbs, shoppers will be able to use the partnering app to map their shopping trips based on the location of the products they are searching for. In addition to mapping their list, as the shopper moves about the store, the beacon will communicate with their phone and alert them of available deals nearby.
Currently, Philips is testing out the tech with a retailer in Düsseldorf. If these beacons find their way into supermarkets, Philips hopes to remove the hunt for hard to find items, and make grocery shopping more efficient.
